Rational Bytes #5

By Gil S in News
  1. Theoretical BS surprisingly made a response to me here. I’ll have a rebuttal out by Wednesday or Friday.
  2. Tim’s presence on the blog will be minimal for the next few months. He recently committed himself to a self-study of the AP World History and Psychology exams, an initiative which will take up most of his free time. Additionally, he is preparing to take the SAT in March.
  3. Interview with Alvin Plantinga – I thought this was interesting, but I was a bit disappointed by how Plantinga said that the trees and bananas (that’s a joke) made it evident to him that God exists.
  4. Veritas 48 Podcast – The great apologist of Youtube has a podcast series that I think is excellent. I wish it was available on iTunes though. I recommend he move away from blogspot and use a more unique theme.
  5. Atheism in 15 Minutes – I thought this was useful but it gave me the idea to make a booklet titled, “Atheism Destroyed in 0 Minutes”. Should I do it? Impossible you say? Darn!

Just by the way… I can’t find the freakin’ admin login on the new blog design.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I’ll bring that to Tim’s attention and see if he can (or wants to) add it again.

I still don’t understand that arguement in the slightest. Not that I really care for it, but it would be nice if I could comprehend it. Perhaps I should check out the video for a more in-detail explaination when I have the time.

Hehehe, you should definitely do it, Gil :P

Yeah, don’t sweat it. The argument is nonsensical to begin with but of course it won’t hurt to understand what he’s trying to get at.

LOL alright! I got one person to back me up on this :D It’ll definitely grab attention, that’s for sure.

I find this part of TBS’s response perplexing:

“Aside from the fact that I haven’t even made this claim (and don’t need to), there is nothing *logically* impossible about something coming into existence on it’s own. This is just a baseless assertion on his part.”

Uh, if he’s talking about self-causation then that *is* logically impossible.
